Protected Promise is a 12' x 12' x 12' stainless steel sculpture inspired by the wonder and curiosity sparked by discovering spiky native seedpods in nature. Located in Bell Park, its reflective surface captures and transforms daylight, offering a shifting visual experience throughout the day. At night, programmed LED lighting animates the metal cutouts, casting dynamic shadows that extend into the surrounding landscape. The lighting shifts in rhythm with nature—as days pass, seasons change, and lunar and solar cycles evolve. Protected Promise invites the community into a shared sense of discovery, guided by nature’s ability to evoke an altered state of consciousness.
