The Lake Plaza is an exciting space and it is exactly the opportunity for public art that I had been seeking.  For years I have been researching ways to integrate art in parks.  The plaza is a single public art experience with many parts. Everything integrates to create an enchanted environment.  Forms and textures echo in the paving, glass, sculpture, fountain and benches.  A variety of materials and techniques dance to the same rhythm.   Areas for activity, areas for solitude and reflection.  A plaza for all ages and ethnic groups.

My design celebrates Houston’s diversity.   The use of mosaic and animal forms in art is universal.  All cultures delight in images of nature, icons of the native environment, and value craftsmanship, playfulness, and a sense of place.  Respect for nature transcends social, economic and ethnic boundaries.
